How could you do that???? So atrocious!!!! How could you two-time me!!! You are already having an affair with another boy!!! My younger cousin was shouting on the phone. As, I entered the room on hearing his shoutings, he abruptly banged the phone and hot tears rolled down his eyes. My cousin is about six years younger to me and being an elder sister, I have always offered him my supporting shoulder for all his emotions.

Seeing his present state of mind, I thought it best, not to question him about anything. But, at the same time I was waiting anxiously about hearing his part of the story. Well, the story came but only after few minutes of consoling from my side. His girlfriend was dating someone else.

But, then it was perfectly ok! Actually, the girl he was talking about was his ex-girlfriend, with whom he had broken off barely a month ago. And now the same girl had found someone else. And my sweet cousin was not able to digest this fact. He had actually thought that the girl must be sobbing in her room after their so-called break-up and must be feeling guilty of letting go of such a wonderful person. But, the scene reversed! The tables were actually turned! The girl was perfectly doing fine, in fact found some one else! But my cousin was standing on the same threshold of his past relationship!

Well this young couple and their story set my thinking bulbs lighten up! Well, why do we humans suffocate our lives because of our failed relationships! Why can’t we let go! What is there that binds us to our old ropes? Is it human tendency to hold on to old things? Even if we get new things?

Well, the answer is ”Yes”. I guess, someone might never understand how it feels unless you are inside the other person’s shoes. People are different, they react to situations differently, so you can’t expect others to react in the same way in which you would have reacted.

It happens...

Well, why do we humans suffocate our lives because of our failed relationships! Why can’t we let go!

I think its called a fear of rejection... We want our ex-partners to be miserable after the break up just because it gives us a sadistic pleasure of knowing that we meant something to them...

Its because people want to know that they are indispensable... they just need that assurance that the break up wasn’t all their fault!!
